David is an Emmy award-winning tech correspondent for CBS News and one of the world’s best-selling how-to authors with three million books in print including seven of the “for Dummies” series and 30 computer books in the “Missing Manual” series.

Miguel A. Bordo, Media Services Manager, Duke University Law School
Miguel Bordo is an Emmy Award winning Art Director, with a background in graphic and motion design, and television production. He has been at Duke University Law School for 2 years, managing the Media Services department, producing documentaries, and serving as the school's administrator for iTunes U. He is also involved in designing and outfitting of new classrooms during a phase of new construction.

Rich Boys, TechSmith
Rich Boys came to TechSmith with over a decade of experience at University of Michigan, most recently as the manager of computing at the School of Information. Prior to that position he worked as a systems administrator on Windows, Mac, and NetWare machines in various departments on campus. In 2006 Rich joined TechSmith and helped launch Screencast.com—a site that makes it easy for educators and others to share media files while retaining the rights to their content. Shortly after the launch of Screencast.com Rich moved on to solely focus on Camtasia Relay, currently in beta. Rich has a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Rich lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his dog Emmett.

David Brommer, Assistant Professor of Geography, University of Alabama
Dr. David Brommer is in his second year as an assistant professor of Geography at the University of Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University in Geosciences (Meteorology and Applied Climatology emphasis) and his Master of Arts and Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Geography (Climatology emphasis).
His research interests focus on the character of precipitation variability, climate change and human-climate interactions. A published researcher and presenter, Dr. Brommer has published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, Geophysical Research Letters, Climate Research, and Monthly Weather Review. He has also presented his research at regional, national, and international conferences and is a member of the Association of American Geographers, the Southeastern Division of the Association of American Geographers, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Meteorological Society. He has also been involved in storm chasing throughout the central United States, participating in field research on tropical cave systems and climate variability, and assessing post-landfall hurricane damage in the Bahamas. He has also been actively involved in integrating a number of learning technologies into the classroom at the University of Alabama at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Bob Hillhouse, Director of Engineering Services, University of Tennessee
Bob Hillhouse, Director of Engineering Services, provides video conferencing, web streaming services, classroom technical support, residence hall closed circuit surveillance system support, and game-day engineering support to The University of Tennessee. Prior to his assignment as Director of Engineering Services, Hillhouse served as the Director of UT Web Services where he and his staff were responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of the university’s web presence across the state.

Jim A. Jorstad, Director of Educational Technologies, University of Wisconsin–La Crosse
Jim Jorstad has been a leading force in the effective use of technology in higher education for over twenty years. In his current position Jim is responsible for integrating technology into teaching and learning practices, learning space design, faculty development, innovative technology projects, distance education, as well as multi-media and web creation. He was instrumental in developing classroom designs and integrated technology for the $10 million renovation project Wing Technology Center project at UW-La Crosse, numerous classroom modernization projects, and is currently working on a new $40 million academic building project. He serves as a technology consultant on learning space design for architectural firms in Wisconsin.

Howard Laurence, CTS, Media Services /Videoconference Facilities Manager
Howard Laurence began his career in audiovisual services in the late 1970’s working as a branch manager for a commercial rental and sales AV company in the Bay Area. He arrived at UCSD in 1990 as the Media Center’s Facilities Manager. Howard now oversees installation and management of audiovisual classroom equipment, one time high profile events, as well as the campus Distance Learning and Videoconferencing rooms. He also provides strategic planning of media to be used for high-profile one time campus special events as well as future classroom building facilities.

Stephanie Martinez, Web Designer, Professional Media Group
Stephanie Martinez recently joined the team at Professional Media Group where she manages web initiatives and visual development for EduComm conference producer, UniversityBusiness.com and DistrictAdministration.com. Stephanie designed and is webmaster for the 2008 EduComm conference website. She is an active web presence consultant and web designer.

John M. Morris, Director of Academic Technology Innovation for the Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT – the IT infrastructure arm of Drexel University)
John M. Morris is the Director of Academic Technology Innovation for the Office of Information Resources and Technology (IRT – the IT infrastructure arm of Drexel University). After 20+ years as a Professor of Architecture and Architectural Engineering at various universities including Tulane, University of Kansas, University of Michigan and Drexel University, he left his position in 2000 as the Director of the Architectural Engineering Program at Drexel to champion and institutionalize web-based education and technology use in the classroom. His focus is on the appropriate use of technology in education and the development of "Best Practices" in web-based learning including both pedagogical and administrative issues. He also manages IRT’s Web-Group which is responsible for special project web-site, application and database development, content and digital asset management, video conferencing and rich media broadcasting and streaming.

Hiroki Nishiyama, Classroom Technologist, Duke University Law School
Hiroki Nishiyama has been at Duke University Law School for 3 years as the Classroom Technologist in the Media Services department, serving the needs of the law school community by supporting classrooms, recording lectures and events, and uploading audio and video in various formats to the law school website and Blackboard.

Kathleen C. Oliveri, Lead IT Consultant, Information Technology Services, Mississippi State University
Dr. Olivieri has over 15 years of experience in integrating technology into higher education. Currently, Dr. Olivieri is a Lead IT Consultant with Information Technology Services and coordinates the podcasting project, classroom technology project and digital video initiatives. Other areas of expertise include coordinating special events involving digital video, serving as a liaison with faculty and developing training materials for campus. As an adjunct professor, Dr. Olivieri also teaches graduate level classes at Mississippi State University.

Della R. Posey, Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Center for Distance Learning and Instructional Technology, Jackson State University
Dr. Posey’s professional career in higher education has included classroom instruction and administration–first in business education and currently as the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs. In these roles she has coordinated curriculum development not only in traditional courses but also in distance learning. As AVP, she directs the Center for Distance Learning and Instructional Technology. Since 2005, the Center has provided student, faculty, and administrator support; coordinated technology implementation projects; and promoted creativity and integration of technology for teaching and learning. A long-time computer enthusiast, Posey champions the infusion of technology in all aspects of daily living.
Posey received her bachelor’s degree in Business Education and the Master’s degree in Business from Mississippi University for Women; the doctoral degree in Education was earned at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has presented numerous workshops locally, nationally and internationally. Additionally, she serves on several statewide advisory councils for distance learning and academic outreach.

Diane Richmond, Instructional Designer
During her tenure at Truman State University, Diane has served variously as an Instructional Media Consultant, PC Support Services Specialist, Web Services Manager, Instructional Designer and Campus IT Trainer. She has taught numerous workshops on a wide variety of IT topics ranging from FrontPage Web Development, Image Editing, Advanced Outlook Techniques, Articulate, Captivate and other eLearning tools, Blackboard (LMS), Podcasting and more.
Diane Richmond will be presenting:

Joe Schuch, Dir. Next–Gen Educational Infrastructure ITS Teaching and Learning at Univ. of NC
Mr. Schuch has served on Chancellor’s Intellectual Climate in the Classroom Commission and is an advisor to the Provost’s Classroom Design and Advisory Council. He has served as a member of the Infocomm Board of Governors and Chairman of the ICIA Endusers Council and is Adjunct Faculty to the Infocomm Academy.
Mr. Schuch is a recipient of North Carolina’s Ketner Award for Excellence presented to state employees whose suggestions represent state savings, labor savings and quality improvements that provide value to the state of North Carolina, its businesses and the general public. In addition to his work at UNC, he is the founder of the AV-1 List and Principal of The Genoa Group, Inc. consulting.

Andrew Wasser, Associate Dean, Carnegie Mellon University – Heinz School
Andrew Wasser is an Associate Dean of Information Systems Management at the John Heinz School of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He is responsible for three of the highest ranked graduate level programs in applied business/information technologies programs in the world: the Masters of Information Systems Management, the Masters of Science in Information Technology, and the Masters of Science in Information Security Policy and Management.
Dean Wasser teaches classes in Global IT Management and IT Delivery in Complex Organizations to masters’ students and in executive education programs.
